"Intelligent and Integrated Joining Technologies For The Future"
Joining of materials for demanding service environments has remained a formidable challenge since the start of this century, driven by the ever-evolving expectations of user industries. Across the globe, significant advancements in welding processes, materials, equipment, automation, and inspection techniques are revolutionizing the field.
To foster knowledge exchange and promote innovation in materials joining and allied domains, the International Symposium on Joining of Materials (SOJOM) was conceived. Held once every four years, SOJOM has grown into a landmark technical event in the welding community
SOJOM 2025 with the theme ‘Intelligent & Integrated Joining Technologies for the Future’ marks the 8th edition in this distinguished series after a forced break in the sequel, to be hosted with same fervour as earlier versions in Tiruchirappalli, India. It is jointly organized by the Welding Research Institute, BHEL – Trichy serving as the Knowledge Partner with the Indian Welding Society – Southern Zone.
Building on the legacy of its past editions, SOJOM 2025 is poised to become a dynamic platform for welding professionals across the globe to discuss innovations, research findings, and future directions. With India marching strong towards Viksit Bharat and Indian industry expected to have a high-growth trajectory, this event will be very timely and impactful.
The symposium will explore the application of joining technologies across a wide range of industries and advanced manufacturing sectors. Broad themes include, but are not limited to:
